August 1st, 1859 -- Leaving Goose Creek, and coming up a canon, we found a pretty good stream, then 12 miles without any water at all, when we reached Rock Spring, a splendid one insuing out of the rock, but no sign whatever of any thing like feed, we therefore rested a little and went ahead another 6 miles, where we found plenty of water but no grass of any account, we camped however as the cattle were pretty well tired out. Quite a number of teams have passed since we stopped, pushing still further on in search of grass.

Travelled 21 miles. We travelled a branch of Goose Creek 3 miles then took the hills. We travel up Goose Creek 18 miles then travel 12 miles to water where we find Rock Spring, a large spring of passible water. Here we enter Thousand Spring Valley. Travelled 6 miles, find good water but no feed.
