July 5th, 1859 -- We have laid over all day, having first rate feed for our stock, and we ourselves have passed the day setting our wagon-tires, washing clothes and playing cards for our amusement. I have spent most of the day in perusing Gil Blas for the third or fourth time, there is a company of four teams above us on their return from Salt Lake after residing there one year, they look pretty hard up, and say it was all they could do to raise an outfit.

Powell
This day had been spent resting &c washing. From here to Salt Lake 200 miles.
